Elijah CHILVERS

ELIJAH CHILVERS

There is a birth entry for Elijah CHILVERS, a boy, on 5 June 1841 in Old Buckenham to Samuel and Thyrza. The birth was registered by Thyrza on 30 June 1841. The 1841 census took place on 6 June 1841, and the CHILVERS household shows "No name" for a 2-day-old infant, but in the female column. It may be that the pronunciation of Elijah was confused with Eliza.

It wasn't until 13 February 1842 that Elijah was christened, along with his elder siblings Daniel and Mary Anne. The confusion about his name however even followed the unfortunate Elijah into his untimely death on New Years Day, 1843.

The death certificate (Vol 13 Page 113) shows under "Occupation" the word "Daughter" which is crossed out and replaced by "Son of Samuel CHILVERS". The cause of death is shown as "Accidentally burnt".
