coming to the JJB Stadium

Welcome to Wigan!

This page hopefully will be helpful to you on your visit to the JJB Stadium.

What to look out for

How to get to the JJB

Road

From the North

Leave the M6 at Junction 26 and follow the signs for Wigan town centre (this road meets the A49) then turn left at a big major complex roundabout into Robin Park Road with Asda to your right. Continue straight on as the road becomes Scot Lane. The ground is down Scot Lane on your right (see below about parking) and will be seen behind the retail park (look for the roof struts).

From the South

Leave the M6 to Junction 25 then take the A49 to Wigan. After around two miles you will come to quite a complex large roundabout. Take the left turn at this roundabout past the Fire Station with Asda to your right into Robin Park Road and continue straight on as the road becomes Scot Lane. The ground is down Scot Lane on your right (see below about parking) and will be seen behind the retail park (look for the roof struts).

Where to Park

There is a large car-park next to the ground. Carry on up Scot Lane and you will feel you're going well past the ground as it disappears behind your right shoulder. Carry on across a mini-roundabout until you come to a major Rover and Fiat car dealership on the left with a big stone plaque showing "Martland Park". Turn right at those lights down Stadium Way to the car park passed the Soccerdome. Stewards will guide you to the visitors car park.

Train

Wigan's stations (Wigan North Western and Wallgate) are about 20-30 minutes walk from the stadium, and are located almost directly opposite each other. Turn left out of North Western or right out of Wallgate station going under the railway bridge past the Swan and Railway (a home fans pub and best avoided) and keep to the right as the road forks. Follow the road (A49), making sure you stick to the right for around 10 minutes. You will pass the famous Wigan Pier on your left, and you may wish to pop into The Orwell, which welcomes away fans, for a quick pint. After The Seven Stars Hotel you will pass under a second railway bridge. The Robin Park complex and the JJB Stadium will then be visible to your right behind Asda Hypermarket. Turn down Robin Park Road passing the Fire Station on your left and then head across the retail park towards the stadium - the roof struts will guide the way.

Scot Lane is the road going from Asda, past the Retail Park and on past the Red Robin. Carry on straight ahead as described above.

Where to drink

Beer is on sale inside the ground (most times!) on the concourses, albeit that it is Fosters or John Smiths.

Before the game away fans are most welcome in The Marquee, a bar that is actually set into the North Stand, and designated for away fans only. There is room for 600 people, and food is available for purchase.

One of the best places to drink before the game away from the ground is the Red Robin which is situated a hundred yards or so away from the ground from the corner of the North and West stands (the junction of the away stand and the main entrance). The pub welcomes peaceful visiting supporters, and kiddies are welcome in the Wacky Warehouse, which is part of the pub.

Further away, but a pub that is passed if you're walking from the stations is The Orwell, part of the Wigan Pier complex. Again peaceful visiting supporters are welcome.
